Window Tint Calculator is built around a simple idea: you should be able to check whether your window tint is legal without handing over your name, email, license plate, or any data about your vehicle. This page explains exactly what does and doesn't happen when you use the calculator.

What the calculator stores

The VLT calculator runs entirely in your browser. The film percentage, factory glass percentage, and window position you enter are processed locally and used to compute your combined VLT result. None of those values are transmitted to our servers. We don't log them, and we don't have a way to see them.

What we don't collect

We don't require accounts. We don't ask for your email address. We don't store the state you selected, the vehicle type you chose, or whether the result showed pass or fail. There is no user database, no profile, and no login.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly aggregate analytics (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand which pages get traffic and which features people use. These tools don't set cookies, don't track you across other websites, and don't collect personal identifiers. They tell us "the laws-by-state article had X visits this week," not "visitor Y looked at California rules then opened the calculator."

Advertising

If we display ads in the future, they may come from Google AdSense or a similar network. Those services may use cookies to show ads based on your activity on other sites. To opt out of personalized advertising, visit Google Ad Settings. As of this writing, the site does not run ads.

Cookies and local storage

The calculator uses your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to remember things like your preferred theme or your most recent state selection so you don't have to reset them each visit. That data lives on your device and is never sent anywhere. You can clear it any time through your browser's settings.

Your rights under GDPR and CCPA

You have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data that a service holds about you. Because we don't collect personal data through the calculator, there generally isn't any data on file to access or delete. If a third-party service we rely on (analytics, ads, hosting) holds data about your visit, those rights apply directly to those services.

Children

The calculator is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has interacted with the site in a way that needs review, please contact us using the email below.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data (for example, if we add an account system or start running ads), this page will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will reflect the change.
