We track VLT rules for all 50 states plus DC, but tint statutes change. If your state shows the wrong VLT minimum or windshield strip allowance, please send the state, the window position (front side, rear side, windshield), and a link to the current statute or DMV reference. That speeds up the fact-check and gets the fix out faster for everyone else looking up the same rule.
What we can't do over email
We can't recommend specific film brands or installers in your area, give legal advice about ticket contests, or measure VLT for you remotely. The calculator estimates combined VLT based on the film and factory glass percentages you enter; for an official reading you'll need a tintmeter (any reputable shop has one) or a friendly inspector willing to clamp one onto your glass.
Press, partnerships, and data licensing
Working on a piece about window tint laws or vehicle privacy regulations? Building a tool that needs a state-by-state VLT dataset? Use the email above with "Press" or "Data" in the subject line and we'll route it appropriately.
